oh what a story...
Is that curious george?
We had to go to the Omaha Zoo because George was going to be there and we have the #1 fan living in our house. Our day started out very early!! Landon wanted to be fed at about 5:00am on Saturday morning. So I peeled my tired body off the bed and made my way to Landon's room. I was very drogging and just going through the motions of changing and feeding him. Whenever I feed him I turn on the TV in the living room so I stay some what awake. I had just finished feeding Landon and I was burping him when all of a sudden I saw something zip by the TV. Trying to figure it out, I came, very quickly to the conclusion that it was a BAT!! I had to bite my tongue from keeping myself from screaming. Landon was now sleeping on my shoulder, so I did not know how to get from the couch up to the bedroom to tell Dave about the discover I had made. Finally,
I had come up with a plan that I would stand up and crouch down so I did not get hit by the flying bat. I made it safely to Landon's room. I put him in his crib and made a MAD dash for our room.
Dave was fast asleep. He sleeps with ear plugs in so I had to really shake him and tell him the wonderful news. He sat up pulling the ear plug out and saying it will be ok, I will catch him. At that very moment he was my night in shining armor all over again!! He rose to the occasion from a deep slumber. He went to the garage for his fishing net to catch the BEAST!
We both made our way to the living room to see if we could see it. For about an hour we could not find the dumb thing. We looked every where. We could not figure out where the bat could have gone. At this time it was about 5:45 and Mykala is now walking down the hall heading for the living room asking us what we were doing. We told her about the situation and told her to go back to bed. Well, she was now a curious little girl and wanted to watch her parents hunt for the bat. We had not had any luck in finding the bat so I took Mykala up to our bedroom to lay down a little bit, but before long Dave was asking us for help again.
He had found the Beast! It was behind a mirror we have behind the front door, or so we thought... Dave asked me to lift up the mirror so he could watch and catch it as it flew out. I had a coat hanging on it so I want to get that out of the way in case of anything going wrong. I grabbed the coat and started to take it off the hook and we saw wings expanding from the coat. IT WAS IN THE COAT!! Dave grabs the coat and threw it outside. It was so in shock that it had to sit there and relax before it flew away. Today I have called the bat professionals and they are going to give me a quote to fix the problem.
We tried to go back to bed but by this time it was getting time to head to the zoo. We got up, got ready and made lunches and hit the road. Once at the zoo, we saw the elephants, rhinos, and many other animals but our main goal was to see Curios George. Mykala did not know that he was going to be at the zoo that day. We got to the building that he was in and Dave took her and walked around to look at some animals while I stood in line. She joined me in line when I was about 4 people from him. At that very moment she saw GEORGE!! She wanted to go and say hi and did not understand that we had to wait in line. She was mad that I was not moving towards him. Once we got to him she was SO excited. We had a great time at the zoo with George.
After the zoo Dave wanted to get a new fishing rod, so we had to stop by Bass Pro Shops in Council Bluffs!!
We had a great day and by the time we got home we were all very tired!!
The billy Goats kept eating our stroller or our bag!
Landon enjoying his time at the zoo!
